The NED user interface
was reviewed during the meeting. Issues that were discussed are summarized
below.
- Functionality has been added so that
directory registrations and updates can be scheduled for a future
date. However, this capability
needs to be enhanced so that there’s a way to change a date after it’s
been scheduled.
- With respect to email notification
and scheduled requests, responsible AOs will receive an email reminder one
day prior to a scheduled update or registration; however, the owner of the
entry will not.
- It’s not necessary to display
scheduled and “normal” requests separately on the main menu as long as
it’s clear from the request what type it is. AOs will follow the same review process regardless of
whether a request is for an immediate or a scheduled change.
- With respect to scheduling requests,
AOs thought it made sense to change “Date to Execute Changes” to
“Effective Date” and insert the current date as a default on the Update
Confirmation screen. Thus, all
requests would be “immediate” unless an AO or AT changed the default date.
- The Change Log report was reviewed
and it was agreed that the caption “Executed” should be changed to
“Approved” to reflect the date an entry is updated or created. The desirability of additional Change
Log reports was also discussed.
For example, the ability to look at all updates to a specific
directory entry over a period time, or to review all pending transactions
for a particular AO. Since the
Directory will capture all this information, it’s simply a matter of
writing code to display data in the desired formats. It was agreed that additional reports
would be developed later as the specifics are fleshed out during the pilot
and early implementation phases.
- The question arose as to whether
legal names should appear on ID badges.
This was not resolved, but Will Liston of ORS was going to look
into this issue.
- Functionality has been added to enable
an AO or AT to quickly get from the data confirmation screens used for
proofing entries to the update forms in the event changes need to be
made. It was suggested that the
name of the button accomplishing be changed from “Correct Entry” to
“Modify Entry.”
- Functionality that has not yet been
added, but is considered critical to the success of the interface is
providing AOs with a couple of additional options during the review
request process: 1) the ability to send requests back to ATs while maintaining
previously entered data; and 2) allowing AOs to make edits themselves
before submitting a new entry or update to the Directory.
